It was defeat on the road for AFC Fylde as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away at league leaders Barnet in a spirited display.
Goals from Nicke Kabamba and Callum Stead proved the difference as the Coasters left empty handed from the capital.
The first half started with the host’s having plenty of the ball, whilst struggling to break the Coasters down as the visitor’s remained resolute.
Fylde had their first chance on 18 minutes when Ethan Mitchell got in behind the Barnet defence and looked to get round the ‘keeper Nick Hayes. The Fylde midfielder almost had the angle but laid the ball off to Haughton whose effort deflected wide.
Haughton then saw another effort blocked after the Coasters switched the play from left to right before Hosannah laid the ball back to the National League’s top scorer whose effort was again charged down smartly.
Barnet continued to have plenty of the ball without ever really troubling Ben Winterbottom in the early stages.
Fylde then had a huge shout for a spot kick when Jon Ustabasi capitalised on a Hayes mistake and was brought down in the area but the decision was goal kick.
Barnet did go close before the end of the half with Callum Stead bending an effort which cannoned off the inside of the post before the striker could only sky the rebound strike.
The second half started in similar fashion to the first, Barnet having plenty of possession without hurting the Fylde defence too much.
But the deadlock was broken on 58 minutes as substitute Nike Kabamba bundled the ball past Winterbottom as the Coasters fell behind in the contest.
There was shouts for another decision just after the hour mark when Gavin Massey’s first involvement saw him dragged to the floor when staring down on the Barnet goal, but again the officials waved away the claims.
Changes were made by both sides as Fylde changed systems in attempt to get back into the contest, seeing the likes of Offrande Zanzala and Tyler Roberts introduced to the proceedings.
Haughton had a free kick which almost rescued a point for Fylde as his whipped cross almost crept in at the back post but the cross evaded everyone in the box.
But as Fylde pushed for an equaliser, Barnet struck to make it two with Callum Stead tapping home in the 95th minute to put the Bees out of sight.
