AFC Fylde ran out as 6-2 winners against Bamber Bridge FC at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium in another good workout for Adam Murray’s side at the halfway mark of pre-season.

Supporters inside The Sir Tom Finney Stadium were treated to eight goals, including six from the Coasters, with Trialist B, Nick Haughton, Gold Omotayo (x2) and Emeka on the scoresheet.

Adam Murray had another chance to look at his squad after a week’s training camp at St Andrew’s, with the likes of Theo Richardson, Kieran Glynn and a few trialists featuring from the start, with a second XI following from the 60th minute onwards.

It only took six minutes for the first goal of the game to arrive after Gold Omotayo picked up a loose ball in the final third and set Trialist B on the edge of the area, who took one touch out of his feet to arrow a strike into the top corner.

The Coasters were playing some silky football, to say the least, which led to Kieran Glynn travelling superbly from his own half and winning a free-kick around 25 yards from goal.

There was only one man for the job after the referee blew his blew whistle for the foul, and that was Haughton, who smashed the set-piece in off the underside of the bar.

A crazy five minutes were to follow, with four goals scored in quick succession. The Coasters were to add a third of the afternoon through Omotayo after he skipped past several Brig players and into the area to slot into the bottom left corner for his first in a Fylde shirt.

Out of nowhere, though, Bamber Bridge grabbed one back through Jordan Butterworth after he spotted Theo Richardson off his line and lifted in from around 40 yards.

However, Murray’s men looked comfortable and as if they would score on every attack. Omotayo had a taste of scoring in Fylde colours and wanted more, which he got, firing past the Trialist Bamber Bridge ‘keeper after Haughton released him in on goal with a clever flick.

After proceedings settled throughout the next 15 minutes, there was time for a fifth Coasters goal when Obi popped up on the stroke of half-time to head in at the back post from Haughton’s corner.

Half-Time: Bamber Bridge 1-5 AFC Fylde

If you were a spectator at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium, you were certainly getting your money’s worth as the goals continued to fly in, including one more for the home side straight after the interval.

Macauley Wilson had time to pick a pass through the middle of the Coasters backline to the trialist striker, who managed to control and squeeze a timid effort across goal and into the bottom corner from the right.

To even things up in the second half, the Coasters had to grab one after Jon Ustabasi burst forward to send a cross into the area from the right, where Ligendza was waiting to volley home at the first time of asking.

Apart from the two goals, the second half didn’t see many chances materialise, but one that did was for Luke Charman seconds before the final whistle after Taelor O’Kane ventured forward and slid Luke Charman in on goal, who couldn’t quite lift over the Trialist ‘keeper.
