It was a tale of two penalties as The Coasters added a second draw to their pre-season schedule results as a Dion Charles penalty for The Coasters cancelled out an early George Newell penalty for the away side.

Coasters winger Charles, who was man of the match, calmly dispatched his spot kick on 80 minutes as Joe Mcgee was brought down in the penalty area and the former made no mistake as he sent sub keeper Harry Campbell the wrong way. This was after the pacy Kaiyne Woolery won a penalty for the away side after a late challenge, and George Newell stepped up to send Ben Hinchliffe the wrong way and give Wanderers the lead on 55 minutes.

Charles’ equalizer meant The Coasters came away with a well earned draw, with just two games left of pre-season before their National North opener against Solihull Moors on August 8th.

Wanderers’ Filip Twardzik had the first attempt of the game, shooting at goal from 30 yards but it was easy for Ben Hinchliffe in the Coasters goal. Fylde then immediately went up the other end and had a shot of their own through Dion Charles but his effort was off target.

Joe McGee went very close to giving Fylde the lead but his close range shot couldn’t find the target and ballooned over the bar after good work from Rowe and Charles down the right. Charles did well to out-muscle the Bolton left back before finding Danny Rowe in the box, but Rowe’s effort was deflected and easy for Fitzsimons.

Brad Barnes then went close for The Coasters as he hit a volley from the edge of the box at goal but it fell well for the keeper who collected without much problem. Nearly a hero, Barnes was very nearly a villain when he lost the ball in midfield, Kaiyne Woolery broke away on the counter and fed it to George Newell who forced a save out of Hinchliffe as he tipped it around the post and away to safety.

A delicious ball in from the left from Fylde full back Adam Sumner found Richie Baker who poked the ball agonizingly wide and minute later, Richie Allen curled an effort towards goal from 30 yards out but it was easily held by Fitzsimons.

The away side started the second half the brighter of the two sides as Jon Ceberio had the first effort of the second half but it flew well over the bar. Joe McGee then did well to win a free-kick around 30 yards out for Fylde which Danny Rowe stepped up to take. Usually prolific with his free-kicks, Rowe put this one just wide although it did take a deflection.

Young Czech midfielder Filip Twardzik pulled the strings for Wanderers and had a shot that went inches wide moments before the first goal of the game. Wanderers’ Kaiyne Woolery went over in the penalty area after a late challenge by a Fylde defender and the away side had a penalty.v Joe Newell stepped up to send Hinchliffe the wrong way to give Bolton the lead after 55 minutes.

Fylde introduced Blinkhorn, Wilson and Kay just after the hour mark although the subs did little to change the swing of things in the game as Bolton sub Jamie Thomas went close to adding a second for the visitors with a low drive at goal, which was well kept out by Hinchliffe and cleared to safety. Shortly after, The Coasters won a corner and Josh Langley rose highest to meet it but his header was off target. Bolton had much of the possession but failed to take their chances to add a second.

Then came The Coasters equalizer on 80 minutes and it was another penalty. This time, Joe McGee was fouled in the box and Dion Charles stepped up to confidently dispatch the resulting penalty past Bolton’s sub keeper Harry Campbell. Charles put in a man of the match performance and capped it off with a well taken penalty.

Bolton then went in search of a winner and through Kaiyne Woolery they had a speedy striker, and he blistered away from The Coasters defence before firing a hard shot towards goal which Hinchliffe did excellently to turn round the post and keep the score at 1-1 going into the final few minutes.

Their was still time for a hairy moment from keeper Ben Hinchliffe as he nearly failed to control a backpass which very nearly allowed Woolery to pounce and score a winner, but Hinchliffe eventually cleared the ball away.

The spoils were shared in a cagey game but both sides will be grateful for the minutes. Next up for The Coasters is Skelmersdale away from home on Saturday August 1st.
