The Coasters return to action this Tuesday, this time facing playoff contenders Solihull Moors. A defeat last Saturday at home to Barnet showed that even in the best form anybody can beat anybody in this division.

A 2-4 loss was not part of Chris Beech’s plans however I’m sure he will have plans to bounce back this Tuesday. A brace from Nick Haughton was overshadowed by four goals from four different Barnet scorers.

With the Coasters once again facing a team in the playoffs for the 3rd game running, Chris Beech will be motivating his side to put in a similar performance to the one at Aldershot last Tuesday.

With both sides needing a win either to consolidate playoffs or push away from the relegation zone, Tuesday night could be a game of tight margins.

The Opposition

The Moors currently sit in 4th position and are pretty comfortable in the playoffs and will be looking to extend their winning run to four matches.

Into the quarterfinals of the FA Trophy as well as being in the playoffs could be a problem for Andy Whing’s side as a fixture pile-up would not be ideal. However, with the Moors going from strength to strength every week they will surely be up there come the end of the season and potentially could get promoted and win the FA Trophy.

However, with the Moors sitting in mid-table on the form guide could the Coasters capitalise on this lull that the Moors are coming out of?

Key Players

Jamey Osborne – A key player in the middle of the park who was made captain by Whing in the summer. A key part of any team and a born winner who was part of a Hednesford Town side who beat the Coasters 3-3 in the playoffs in the 2012-13 season. Osborne joined the club in 2016 and despite spells elsewhere, Osborne has racked up nearly 200 appearances for the Moors. A tough tackler with an eye for a pass, Osborne is the key player in making the Moors tick over.

Mark Beck – The tall centre forward who is bound to cause trouble for the Coasters if selected on Tuesday night. The Former Darlington man is more than just a target man up front to aim for. Beck is useful with his feet and has found himself as the top goalscorer of the Moors after Josh Kelly’s departure to AFC Wimbledon.

Alex Whitmore – Whitmore is no stranger to Coasters fans after being at the club since the 2019-20 season and also being captain. A passionate and commanding centre-back with key leadership qualities, Whits has slotted right into life at Solihull starting every game since joining them in December.
