AFC Fylde travel to Guiseley this Wednesday night looking for an early advantage in the first of the two play-off semi-finals between the two sides.

The Coasters finished in second place in the Conference North league table and won their final league game of the season 6-4 at home to Gloucester City in a remarkable game at Kellamergh Park last Saturday. Goals from Dion Charles, a Danny Lloyd brace and a Danny Rowe hat-trick saw Fylde pick up the three points they needed to have any chance of winning the league. Unfortunately, Barrow also won their game so they were promoted as Champions.

Never-the-less, The Coasters are unbeaten in their last 10 games, winning 6 and drawing 4 as well as scoring an impressive 30 goals in those last 10 games of the season. In fact, The Coasters have taken 13 points from their last 5 games and go into the play-offs in excellent form.

The same cannot be said about The Lions, who have only won two of their previous eight game in the league. They’ve lost their last two games of the season against North Ferriby and Oxford City and they finished 15 points behind The Coasters in the league table.

The Lions only just squeezed into the play-offs, as they finished one point ahead of Oxford City and Tamworth but they also only finished one point behind Chorley and two points behind Boston United, who finished fourth and third respectively.

These two sides have met twice in the league this season, with Guiseley coming off the better of the two sides. A 0-0 draw at Kellamergh Park in August was followed by a 3-1 win for Guiseley in February.

This will be the first of two meetings between the two sides in the play-off semi-finals. The second will be at Kellemargh Park this coming Saturday.
