AFC Fylde Women return to league action this Sunday when they entertain West Bromwich Albion Women at Kellamergh Park.

This FAWNL Northern Premier Division fixture takes place on Sunday, 8 October 2023, with kick-off scheduled for 2.00 pm.

In the first of three successive home games, the Coasters are aiming to pick up their first points of the season and climb away from the bottom of the table.

Following a difficult run of fixtures, Jack Garside’s team intend to make the most of home advantage and build some positive momentum this month.

The Coasters made the perfect start to October by booking their place in the Second Round of the FAWNL Cup with an emphatic 6-0 win against Notts County Women FC. Goals from Lily Murphy, Ginny Lackey (x2), Lauren Heria, Emma Siddall and an own goal helped the team secure the victory in a dominant display at the RM Stadium in Hucknall.

As for Fylde’s next opponents, West Bromwich Albion Women also secured their passage to the next round of the FAWNL Cup last Sunday with a spirited 3-2 win away to Liverpool Feds at Jericho Lane.

The Baggies have made a rather mixed start to their league campaign, with two wins and two losses from their opening four games. As a result, Albion currently reside in eighth place in the table.

Albion Head Coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still was encouraged by her team’s performance in the cup last weekend: “I think going into that next round just gives the girls confidence each game we win – we’re getting much better as a squad.”

Similarly, Jack Garside also remains optimistic about his team’s progression as he outlined the objective in the coming weeks: “In the next five league games, the target is to win a minimum of three, and we believe we will do this alongside progressing in the cup.”

As the Coasters prepare for this next challenge, supporters are encouraged to come along to Kellamergh Park and get behind the team on Sunday afternoon.
