After their recent cup adventures, AFC Fylde Women make their return to league action this Sunday with the visit of Derby County Women to Kellamergh Park.

The Coasters resume their campaign in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division with an exciting home fixture against Derby County on Sunday 12th February, with kick-off at 2.00 pm.

Fylde are looking to get back to winning ways on home soil but face a tough test against Samantha Griffiths’ high-flying Derby County, who currently sit fourth in the table after 13 games played.

After a fortnight’s break from the league, Fylde head into this Sunday’s game in seventh place after 12 games played.

It will be the third meeting between the Coasters and the Ewe Rams this season. The two sides have already played each other twice in back-to-back fixtures last September.

In their first encounter, the Coasters travelled to the Don Amott Arena in Mickleover and clinched their first win of the season with an impressive 2-0 win thanks to goals from Amy Hughes and Jess Holbrook.

In their second encounter a week later, it was Derby County who came out on top in a 2-1 victory in the Determining Round of the FAWNL Cup.

Anita Gaspar gave the Ewe Rams a first-half lead before scoring her second shortly after the interval. Caz Fields later pulled a goal back for Fylde to set up a dramatic finale.

Despite an improved second-half showing, the Coasters could not overturn the deficit, and the Ewe Rams advanced to the next round of the competition.

And if recent meetings are anything to go by, this Sunday’s game is sure to be another competitive and compelling encounter. Fans are encouraged to come and show their support at Kellamergh Park on Sunday.
