AFC Fylde Women welcome Chorley Women FC to Kellamergh Park on Sunday for the Determining Round of the FA Women’s National League Cup.

This home tie against the Magpies takes place on Sunday 27th August, with kick-off at 2.00 pm.

The Coasters kicked off their league campaign last Sunday with a disappointing 4-2 loss away to Huddersfield Town Women at the Stafflex Arena.

Jack Garside’s Fylde team took the game to their hosts and twice went ahead with two superb goals by Ginny Lackey either side of the half-time break. Unfortunately for the visitors, the Terriers quickly equalised just before the hour mark, before adding another two goals to claim the spoils on the opening day of the season.

The Coasters now switch their attention to the FAWNL Cup with a home draw against Lancashire neighbours Chorley Women FC, who compete in a division below in the FAWNL Division One North.

The Magpies also fell to an opening-day defeat with a 4-0 reverse at the hands of Barnsley Women’s FC. Magpies Manager Carmelo Ruggieri will be looking for a positive response from his side when they make the short trip to the Fylde coast on Sunday.

Similarly, the Coasters will also be looking to bounce back and advance to the next round of a competition, in which they enjoyed a successful run last season. After losing their Determining Round tie to Derby County Women, the Coasters went on to reach the Quarter Final of the FAWNL Plate.

To reach that stage, the Coasters came from behind to beat Doncaster Rovers Belles 2-1 in the First Round, before defeating Boldmere St Michaels Women in a thrilling Second Round tie. Fylde then hosted Leeds United Women in the Quarter Final but bowed out of the competition with a 2-0 defeat to a Leeds side that would go on to lift the trophy in the final.

And starting this Sunday, the Coasters will be hoping to create more special cup memories this season.
