This afternoon’s match at Stalybridge Celtic has been abandoned by the referee at 0-0 just 12 minutes into the game.

Persistent rain was making play increasingly difficult and the officials deemed the pitch unplayable.

Manager Dave Challinor had made two changes to the side that suffered disappointment at Lowestoft Town earlier in the week with the returning Josh Langley replacing Dom Collins at the back whilst Dion Charles came in for Matty Hughes.

Fylde had the ball in the back of the net with their first opportunity of the match when Sam Finley latched on to Danny Rowe’s through ball and slid the ball past the keeper, but the linesman’s flag was raised.

Pitch conditions were making play difficult for both sides in the opening stages with the ball not running freely.

Stalybridge fashioned their first chance in the eighth minute and were agonisingly close to opening the scoring. A corner from the right wasn’t dealt with and the ball fell to Adam Farrell who smashed his shot against the near post in the last notable action of the game.
