We are delighted to announce that following a restructure within the club, Fylde Women FC will remain as part of AFC Fylde and continue to compete at their current level.

Following extensive talks and a strong willingness from all parties to see the Women’s side continue, a financial package has been agreed by David Haythornthwaite, Chairman of AFC Fylde, to continue funding Fylde Women FC.

The restructure agreed will see Conrad Prendergast step down from his position as manager of the team, to focus more time and resources into his role within the Coasters’ academy set-up.

We can confirm that Kim Turner has been appointed as the new Fylde Women FC Joint Manager, stepping up from her role as assistant. Turner will be supported by current captain, Danielle Young, who takes up the position of Joint Manager, whilst still continuing to play for the team.

AFC Fylde has further committed to supporting its Women’s team by confirming that Kellamergh Park will be the permanent new home of the side. Branding is already taking place and we are thoroughly looking forward to welcoming Fylde Women FC into their new permanent residence for the new season.

Carol West, Chairman FA Women’s National League, said: “The initial announcement that Fylde Women could be disbanded was a shock to everyone. The loss of any club is an extremely sad event and has a profound effect that is felt by everyone from players to wider community.

“We have been in regular contact with the club since the announcement and have been encouraged and heartened by the enthusiastic and open-minded approach to find a workable solution to allow the women’s team to continue.

“We are thrilled to see that a solution has been found and that AFC Fylde Women will continue to be part of the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division next season.”
