Exciting winger arrives at Mill Farm.

We are delighted to announce that Junior Mondal has signed for AFC Fylde on a one-year contract, with a further year option in the club’s favour.

The 23-year-old, who is full of pace, trickery and flair can operate comfortably on either wing whilst having the ability to switch feet when required to do so.

Having began his career coming through the youth ranks at Middlesbrough, Mondal’s first taste of senior football was with Spennymoor Town, thus showing he knows the non-league scene prior to heading into the new season.

After a successful spell with Spennymoor, a short time at Whitby Town followed before the winger caught the eyes of Sky Bet League Two side, Forest Green Rovers. Netting five goals in 15 starts at The New Lawn and also making an impact multiple times from the bench, Mondal left the club this summer after 18 months in Nailsworth.

Now signing for AFC Fylde, Mondal said: “The manager is ambitious and he said he has been looking at me for a while. It’s always nice in football to be wanted and feel appreciated, that usually brings the best out of you. I came down last week to speak with him and it was clear that the club has ambition.

“I’ve got experience of non-league, I know it’s physical, aggressive and the pitches won’t be carpets every week, so I know what to expect when we get going. The way the manager wants to play sounds great, the way he helps to develop players and the plans for the club absolutely sealed the deal for me.”

Securing one of his top targets for the summer window, Jim Bentley was delighted to welcome Junior to Mill Farm for the upcoming season. He told afcfylde.co.uk: “Junior is a player I’ve admired for some time now. I tracked him last season when he was out the side at Forest Green. He has a good pedigree, potential and is very eager to improve even further.

“Hopefully he can do that now with us. He is quick, technically good and is an exciting forward that I’m sure will entertain and excite our fans. We are very much looking forward to working with him!”
