AFC Fylde is delighted to announce that Jack Garside has been appointed as the new First-Team Manager of AFC Fylde Women.

Following the mid-season resignation of Danielle Young as the Women’s First Team Manager, and the subsequent appointment of James Mallett as the Interim Manager, the Football Club conducted a thorough and professional recruitment process, which has seen Jack Garside appointed as the new First-Team Manager of the Women’s team.

With a strong background in the Women’s game behind him, Jack joins the Club from Manchester City U21s, where he spent four years in their highly acclaimed Women’s Academy.

Throughout Jack’s four years at the Etihad, he worked with the U12s, U14s, U16s and U21s, with his most recent role at City being the U21s Head Coach.

Jack is a qualified coach with a keen eye for talent and has recruited some of the best young players in the North West for Manchester City while supporting coaches in the game both on and off the pitch in a Coach Developer role with the FA.

Following the appointment of Jack, the AFC Fylde Director of Football, Chris Beech said: “After an extensive interview process, our thoughts aligned with the recruitment of Jack Garside to take our Women’s Team forwards.

“Jack has the challenge of picking up from where James Mallett left off, and without James’s influence, determination and the players’ hard work, our Tier three standing could have been lost.

“I’m very confident that Jack’s experiences at Manchester City, along with his energy and teaching background, will provide a great platform for the team and players to evolve, learn and progress attacking the 2023/24 season.”

In appointing Jack, AFC Fylde would once again like to thank Danielle Young for her valued involvement as a player, and subsequently as the Women’s First-Team Manager, and James Mallett for his time and effort as Interim Women’s First-Team Manager.

With that in mind, Executive Vice Chairman Phil Humphreys added: “In making the new appointment, which we are delighted with, the Football Club would like to express its appreciation of the work recently done by James Mallett in the role of Interim Manager for the Women’s Team.

“His energy and professionalism, together with achieving several vitally important wins, undoubtedly assisted the team in securing its position in the third tier of Women’s football.”

“The size of the challenge that the Women’s team faced in the winter months should not be underestimated, and James’ influence since then has enabled the team to reconcile its position and look forward to next season with a high level of confidence.”

“Our sincere thanks and best wishes go to both James and Danielle for their time with the AFC Fylde Women’s Team.”

Welcome to AFC Fylde, Jack!
