AFC Fylde are delighted to announce the signing of highly-experienced defender Harry Davis on a free transfer from Scunthorpe United.

Harry arrives at Mill Farm with a vast amount of Football League experience behind him and signs an 18-month contract with the Club.

Davis began his career at Crewe Alexandra, breaking into the first team under Dario Gradi and his father & assistant manager, Steve Davis. He scored his first goal for The Alex in a 3-1 defeat against Southend United.

After helping Crewe to promotion to League One, Davis signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Gresty Road and was made club captain for the 2015-16 season.

A spell at St. Mirren on loan during the 2016-17 season, where Harry made such a good impression that St Mirren offered him a permanent contract for the following season

Harry’s return to England came in 2018 when Grimsby Town signed the defender on their return to the Football League Harry made 56 appearances before moving to Morecambe at the end of his contract.

The 30-year-old spent a year at the Mazuma Stadium, helping them gain promotion to League One for the first time in their history before joining Scunthorpe United in June 2021, where he was captain of the side.

He now leaves Glanford Park to join the Coasters, and we are delighted to see him arrive at Mill Farm.

On Harry’s arrival, manager Jim Bentley said: “Harry is a player I have seen numerous times over the years and someone i’ve always admired.

“He brings to our squad plenty of experience, leadership and quality. He’s a solid centre half and can also play with the ball at his feet. It’s a big signing for us, and i’m sure he will improve our squad on and off the pitch.”

Welcome to AFC Fylde, Harry!
