The launch of a nationally acclaimed Futsal programme at AFC Fylde Community Foundation has kicked off with a hugely successfully open evening.

After lots of planning, preparation and hard work, the Foundation team took over Churchill’s at Mill Farm to showcase the highly respected Futsal programme.

The official open evening attracted large numbers and received great interest. The Foundation provided an information packed evening for all the aspiring Futsal students, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand the benefits of being part of the innovative programme.

Attendees also got the chance to get an inside view of the state of the art stadium and top class facilities they will enjoy during their time studying at the Foundation’s Education Centre.

Working in partnership with Virtual Learning UK (VLUK), the Foundation will begin to roll out the prestigious programme in September 2017.

Futsal is a fast-paced, small-sided football game originating from South America but widely played across the world and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA. The Futsal programme is a two-year course that enables young participants to work towards academic qualifications whilst taking part. During the course, students will be based full time at Mill Farm Sports Village and will divide their time between educational sessions and playing Futsal.

Futsal programme lead Ryan Vaughan was delighted with the success of the open evening. He said: “It was great to see so much interest in the programme. It is still very early days and it’s already looking like it’s going to be a huge success!”
