Match Report

A superb strike from Danny Rowe and a second in first half injury time for Danny Lloyd kept The Coasters in second place in the Vanarama Conference North and within sight of league-leaders Barrow ahead of the Boxing Day clash.

It was a comfortable victory in the end as the solid Fylde defence were rarely troubled and The Coasters were able to play out the second period and secure a well-earned three points.

Rowe almost scored as early as the seventh minute when he headed Caspar Hughes free kick narrowly wide but it was his 11th minute contender for goal of the season that opened the scoring.

Collecting the ball 30 yards out he inched forward, turned his marker and unleashed a powerful 25 yard strike which swerved into the top left corner of Billy Turley’s net for his fourth goal in three games.

That goal seemed to stun Brackley into submission as Fylde dominated the next few minutes and Lloyd was unlucky to see two strikes fail to really test Turley when trying to double his side’s lead.

A rare foray forward from the home side resulted in two successive corners and the second one was eventually fired wide by Ryan Rowe from just inside the box.

As the half was simpering out to nothing Fylde came back to life with a further strike from Lloyd going narrowly wide before Bradley Barnes volleyed high over the bar after some good interchange between Richie Allen and Adam Sumner.

And Fylde did double their lead in stoppage time when Sumner collected Allen’s flick-on to square a ball across the face of the goal which evaded everyone apart from Lloyd who was on hand to tap in at the back post.

Brackley regrouped at half time and the second half was a more even affair with the first shot of the half falling to David Moyo on the break which Ben Hinchliffe had to be on hand to save.

Rowe sent a couple of attempts wide of the goal ten minutes into the half for Fylde before a run of chances for the home side failed to materialise into goals.

Greg Kaziboni’s strike sailed wide on 65 minutes and Michael Built had a shot deflected wide three minutes later.  Moyo then headed a decent cross at goal with eleven minutes left before Chris Carruthers half-volleyed an effort into the grateful hands of Hinchliffe.

Allen and Lloyd could have put the icing on a fine win late on but their strikes were well saved and the score remained at 2-0.

This result makes is six league games unbeaten for The Coasters which sets it up nicely for the visit of Barrow next week followed by trips to Guiseley and Barrow over the Christmas and New Year period.
