AFC Fylde returned to the top of the Vanarama Conference North with an emphatic 4-0 win at Worcester City

The Coasters lost their place at the summit in February after a run of 3 consecutive league defeats but reclaimed it with a brace from Josh Wilson and further goals from Danny Lloyd and Danny Rowe.

Coasters boss Dave Challinor made two changes to the side that drew at Chorley on Saturday with Dion Charles coming in for Richie Allen and Josh Langley returning in place of Luke Denson.

The Coasters took the lead after just four minutes when Dion Charles ran at the Worcester defence and squared the ball for Josh Wilson to tap home from close range into an empty net.

Just past the half hour mark and Fylde doubled their lead. Rowe turned on the right hand side and produced an excellent cross for Lloyd to stab home from six yards.

Worcester responded with a long range effort from captain Ellis Deeney but his shot was well over the bar and the hosts struggled to create any meaningful chances in the opening 45 minutes.

The outstanding Dion Charles had two chances to extend Fylde’s lead but his first was well saved by keeper Ryan Boot and the second trickled just wide of the left hand post with Boot beaten.

Fylde defended well throughout the first half and were good value for their half time lead.

Worcester had the better of the first 15 in the second half but couldn’t fashion any major chances. The Coasters made a double substitution with 25 minutes
to go with Luke Denson replacing the excellent Dion Charles and Liam Tomsett replacing Matty Blinkhorn.

Fylde secured the win when Jonathan Lynch’s slip on the edge of the box put Danny Rowe through on goal and he volleyed home from a tight angle to make it three.

Two minutes later it was 4 when Josh Wilson’s deflected free kick wrongfooted the Worcester keeper and ended in the back of the net. Worcester striker
Sean Geddes was sent off for a second bookable offence when conceding the free kick.

Joe Booth replaced Richie Baker with ten minutes to go and Danny Lloyd was booked following a altercation with Ellis Deeney for which the Worcester man
was also booked.

The full time whistle sounded to a chorus of boos from the home crowd but Fylde return to the top of the table and entertain bottom side Hyde on Saturday afternoon.
