Foundation’s Futsal Scholars Play the Game in State-of-the-Art Centre.
The beautiful game has just got even better for a group of lucky local teenagers.
They are the latest participants in the nationally recognised Futsal programme delivered by AFC Fylde Community Foundation. This year, the highly successful scheme is being rolled out in the newly developed, multi-million-pound Fylde Sports and Education Centre at Mill Farm.
They are the first Futsal students to take advantage of the impressive state-of-the-art facilities with an exceptionally high standard of coaching, enhanced training pitches and improved educational provision on offer.
After only recently moving into the centre, the Foundation team are not only looking forward to delivering the popular programme and helping to develop the latest scholars but are already recruiting for the next intake of participants, who will join the course full-time in September 2019.
During the next year, the Community Foundation will be hosting open evenings, taster sessions and visiting local high schools to raise awareness about Futsal.
The ground-breaking programme offers boys and girls aged between 16-18 the opportunity to join AFC Fylde full time for their college education as well as playing Futsal against Premier League standard teams.
Foundation Community Development Manager Matt Agnew works closely with the young adults on the Futsal programme.
He said: “After their summer break I’m happy to now officially welcome our scholars back for the new school year.
“We have great plans for the year ahead and I’m excited to get started with them. The fact that this year’s programme will take place in the new Sports and Education Centre makes it even more special. It’s a remarkable facility for the Fylde which is why we are already starting to meet new people and get them involved ready for next year.”
