In the New Year, young people in Fylde will have access to a brand new youth club, thanks to the AFC Fylde Community Foundation and the Youth Base Action Group.

Youth Base will start from Tuesday 12th January in the newly renovated Community Pavilion in Hope Street Park, Lytham St Annes. There will be a session for seven to 10 year olds on Tuesdays, and a session for 11 to 14 year olds on Fridays. All youth club sessions are set to run from 6pm to 8pm.

The youth clubs will include fun activities such as Xbox games, SingStar and dance mat competitions, arts and crafts, table tennis, themed nights, football, athletics and more. There will also be opportunities to sign up for outdoor pursuits such as bird box building and other environmental projects.

The first session for each age group will be absolutely free, then every session afterwards will be 50p per person. Places will be limited.

Funding has also been provided by the Big Lottery, the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner and the Fylde Community Projects Fund.

Pam Curtis, chair of the Youth Base Action Group, said: “The Youth Base youth club will be a great place for young people to meet up each week, make new friends and find new interests. Whether they are crafty and creative, sporty or gaming enthusiasts, there will be something for everyone. We will also offer more activities once we get more feedback from young people on what they’d like to do.”

Tom Hutton, director of community development at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, said: “We are always looking for new ways to create experiences which enrich young people’s lives, so teaming up with the Youth Base Action Group to create Youth Base seemed a natural step to take.

“This new youth club will be a really positive influence in the community, with a friendly atmosphere and a wide variety of activities to take part in.”
