AFC Fylde Community Foundation are marking Schools’ Football Week throughout this week (Monday 5th – Sunday 11th February), a campaign by the English Schools’ Football Association.

Schools’ Football Week is a national campaign supports pupils to enjoy the benefits of the beautiful game in their schools.

The ongoing ESFA initiative is designed as an opportunity for schools, teams and clubs from across the country to embrace schools’ football and the wellbeing benefits it provides to pupils and players.

Celebrating the importance of the sport, both competitively and non-competitively in schools across England, and helps teachers and coaches with the delivery of sessions.

And through our schools football provisions in Fylde, we are supporting Schools’ Football Week with exciting local events.

The Foundation runs weekly football programmes for primary and secondary school pupils in the borough, from our Football Development Centres, to Coasters After School programme and annual tournaments in partnership with the National League Trust.

Youngsters can also benefit from the foundation’s fantastic relationship with AFC Fylde on home matchays at Mill Farm and during the week, with the opportunity to experience our Team of the Week for local grass roots teams, as well as local teams supporting the game with ball assistance duties.

Recently, the Foundation’s partner schools have enjoyed success through the National League Trust Cup regional tournaments in both boys and girls’ competitions.

Last week, Heyhouses CofE Primary School were crowned champions at the girls tournament, whilst Lytham Hall Park were runners-up in the boys competition which was held at Oldham Athletic Community Trust and will now represent the Foundation in the Northern Finals in Chesterfield later this year.
