AFC Fylde’s Youth Squad are in action once again in the FA Youth Cup on Monday night when they welcome Newcastle Benfield to Kellamergh Park for a First Round Proper tie.

Stewart Clitheroe’s side have won through to this round, for only the second time in the club’s history, thanks to three hard-fought victories, the latest coming in the previous round over Irlam’s U18’s.

The 4-1 final score line probably flattered Clitheroe’s side as Irlam were unlucky to only score the once but for a fantastic performance from Fylde keeper Lee Squires keeping them at bay.

As for Newcastle Benfield, they have enjoyed three home ties of their own in the qualifying rounds this season and in the last qualifying round they overcame Southport who took them all the way to a penalty shoot-out where Benfield prevailed 13-12 after a 2-2 draw.

This is the fourth time that the Fylde youngsters have been at home in this competition this season and the three previous rounds have seen fantastic three-figure attendances so please come along and show your support once again for what will be the players’ biggest game of the season, and their careers, to date.

Another home tie awaits in the Second Round Proper for the victors and this is the perfect opportunity for the lads to take the club further than ever before in this competition.

The match kicks off at 7:30pm.
