AFC Fylde have a weekend off Evo-Stik League action this weekend.  Instead they’ll be going for a second piece of silverware within a month.

Play-off hopefulls Skelmersdale United are the oponents on Sunday afternoon when the two sides meet in the Doodson Sport League Cup Final at Edgeley Park, home of Stockport County.

The Coasters will be confident of victory tomorrow having guaranteed themselves at least a Play-off place thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory over Ilkeston on Tuesday night, a win which also streched their unbeaten run to 21 games in all competitions.

This will be Fylde’s sixth cup match in that time and will be slight favourites going into a match against a side that has slipped from the summit of the table down to sixth in the space of three months but reuvinated their own promotion aspirations with a 2-1 win over Worksop Town in mid-week.

Tommy Lawson’s side have already beaten Fylde this season, coming away from Kellamergh Park with a 3-2 victory on Boxing Day, but Dave Challinor will be hoping tomorrow’s game will turn out a different result than last time as they look to claim a second of three possible trophies come the end of the season.

The match will kick off at 3:07pm, in line with other games across all levels of English football this weekend, in memory of the 96 Liverpool fans that died in the Hillsborough Disaster 25 years ago.

Admission is just £8 for adults and £5 for concessions and it’s a pay-on-the-gate match, so come along and show your support for AFC Fylde!
