AFC Fylde are pleased to announce the signing of Dan Pike on a short-term loan deal from Blackburn Rovers.

The highly-rated 19-year-old arrives at Mill Farm following the recent injury to regular full-back Luke Burke and will be available for Saturday’s trip to the Horsfall Stadium, when the Coasters take on Bradford Park Avenue.

Pike, an attacking full-back, impressed the coaching staff at AFC Fylde with his performance for Rovers in the Luke Bennett Celebration fixture last month. Praised for his versatility, Dan has spent nine years at Ewood Park, having signed as an eight-year old.

Having established himself as a key player in the Championship outfit’s Development Squad last season, the youngster joins the club looking to gain experience at senior level.

Speaking to afcfylde.co.uk, Coasters boss Jim Bentley said: “We are a bit light in full-back areas, so we are pleased to have Dan on board. We have watched him a couple of times, were impressed with his performance against us in pre-season, and he comes highly recommended.

“We’d like to thank Blackburn for allowing us to take Dan and we are looking forward to working with him. I’m sure he will help us on the field and, equally, we can help with his development as a player.”

Dan will wear the number 18 shirt during his stay.
