AFC Fylde are delighted to announce the signing of former Wales U21 international goalkeeper Rhys Taylor.

The 26-year-old joins the Coasters after a spell with Welsh side Newport County and will be available for today’s trip to AFC Telford United.

Taylor began his career with Premier League giants Chelsea, spending five years as a pro with the London side.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, the goalkeeper enjoyed loan spells with Queens Park Rangers, Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham United.

Following his release from Chelsea in 2012, Taylor had stints with Southend United and Preston North End before establishing himself as No.1 at Macclesfield Town. He spent two seasons with Macclesfield before joining Newport last summer.

Fylde have further bolstered their goalkeeping ranks with the additions of Tony Thompson and Ed Wilczynski from Chester and Huddersfield Town respectively.
