AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor was delighted to get back to winning ways at Mill Farm.

The Coasters beat Curzon Ashton 4-1 last night to return to the top of the National League North and Challinor was pleased with his ‘progressing’ side.

“It was another good performance and probably our most complete performance of the season so far.

“We had a bit of a sloppy spell that coincided with them scoring but were improved tonight and the results keep on coming.

“We have progressed from the weekend against Gloucester. It felt a bit like déjà vu in the first half with the number of chances we missed and then they manage to get themselves back into the game. Thankfully every time we have conceded – which has been quite frequently this season – we have responded in the right way and we did that again. It’s a great trait to have.

“The game was quite open towards the end and it allowed us to get the final killer goals. We defended okay after getting quite a bit of stick this season, especially from myself.

“Four points from these two home games is the least we deserved and we will take that.

“Rowey is in frightening form. They were all different types of finishes and it shows what confidence can do for a striker. He backs himself to score in every game and he is in a fantastic run of form and long may it continue.”
