I’m just gutted.  We did well but ultimately we lost the game which is the biggest disappointment.  We spoke before the game that with it being a bit of a free hit, if you like, it was a game we could go and enjoy but fundamentally I said to them they would enjoy the game more if you go out and win.

It’s disappointing to lose the game with the goals we conceded as well and I thought for 20 minutes we were a little bit like a rabbit in the headlights if I’m honest but for 20 to 25 minutes beyond that in the first half I thought we were very good.

We have two really good chances where we’re one-v-one with the keeper, one we miss the target and the other he makes a good save, and then two balls go across the box and if we’ve got someone who’s a poacher, they have two tap ins.

And then after half time we come back in to it with a really positive response, the substitutions we made really worked and you’re sort of right back in the game but to go and concede like we did with 20 minutes to go from another corner is a killer because we’d been really positive in the second half and even though we’d had lots of chances and good situations, the game then was a tough one for us.

But we kept going and their keepers made two or three really good saves so if we’d have kept within a goal or got a goal back then the last ten minutes could have been really interesting.

These are the fourth and fifth consecutive goals we’ve conceded from set pieces in the last two or three games and it is something that we’ve worked on in training but you’re relying on people going back in and doing their jobs, that’s what it’s about.  It’s an over your dead body one where you can do as much as you want and if you go with your man, he can’t score and we need to be better.  In an individual responsibility you’re looking for people to go back in there and want to keep the ball out of your net and the forward players who go back in there who aren’t defensively minded have to do jobs.

But we know it has to get better and I suppose the galling thing was that the game was probably a close one and I don’t think there was a massive amount of difference between the sides.  The last 20 minutes is a bit of a giveaway because they’ve dropped off as its 2-0 and they’ve tried to keep what they’ve got which gave us a little bit of impetus, got in good areas and the keeper’s made some saves but we can’t concede in the manor we have otherwise you lose football matches and that’s the biggest disappointment.

I think we had to change how we attacked the game and we’d always planned to play deep and drop off and play on the break.  Richie had a great chance one-v-one and not hit the target, Barnesy’s had a great chance one-v-one and the keeper’s made a decent save and he got in a couple of times down the side.

We changed our shape after the first 20 minutes and went three at the back to match them up to push Adam and Barnesy on with Jamie and Richie down the middle, so we had our chances but it just wasn’t to be today.  Their keepers made a couple of saves with his legs that on another day could go through his legs and Josh had a good chance at the end from a header.

If you look at the game as a whole in terms of chances we probably had the better chances but fundamentally, we’ve not done our jobs from set pieces and that’s cost us our place in the FA Cup this season which is a huge disappointment.

The lads were obviously disappointed after the game and no more than me as I’m the worst loser of the lot so in all fairness it’s probably me that feels worse than them.  Whether that should be the case is by-the-by but it hurts me more than anything so yes, we need to get it out of our system, we know we need to improve with what we’re doing because Plymouth had decent delivery and couple of big lads and next weekend we’re at North Ferriby who have a lad who is 6’8” so if we can’t defend we’re going to find ourselves in trouble.

Defensively, as a team, on the whole we’re excellent but set pieces at the minute seem to be an issue which we need to rectify sooner rather than later.
