AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor is ‘looking up’ after watching his side gatecrash the National League play-offs.

The Coasters cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Maidstone United – their sixth win in seven – and Challinor was pleased with his side’s dominant display.

Challinor: “It was different type of performance to the one against Macclesfield at the weekend but a very good one nevertheless.

“It probably took us ten minutes to get into it but from then until half-time we were very dominant and should have been further ahead than we were.

“We restricted them to nothing and the scoreline could have been similar to Saturday.

“In fairness to Maidstone they came out rejuvenated after the break and we got away with one or two moments. Had they pulled one back it would have been a very different game.

“Once we restored our foothold in the game, we looked the ones most likely to go and get another goal. We did that and looked very comfortable in the end.

“We now find ourselves in the play-offs and the last goal took us up to sixth so we have a real opportunity. We are just two points from our original points target and we are looking up. We have a big chance now and we have to kick on.”
