AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor believes the real hard work starts now for National League North strugglers Telford United.

Tomorrow’s opponents Telford have got themselves within touching distance of safety and Challinor reckons this can be the most difficult time for a team that was adrift at the bottom of the league.

“Telford had a few good results leading up to this week,” said Challinor. “At one point they looked a little bit adrift at the bottom of the table, but they were in a position on Tuesday night that if they had won then they would have been out of the bottom four.

“Sometimes catching up can be the easier part because there’s no pressure on you, it’s when you are within touching distance that it becomes a little more difficult as you start to look at the teams around you.

“They were 1-0 up on Tuesday night against Hednesford and totally in control of the game, but the equaliser really changed the complexion of the match and obviously they went on to lose 3-1.

“They will have been hoping to carry some momentum into this weekend, but they are still at home and they will be desperate to get off the bottom of the table.

“Our game against Corby being off in midweek gave us a chance to go and watch Telford. This is our first game since the disappointment of last weekend and it gives us the opportunity to right a few wrongs.”
