AFC Fylde is thrilled to announce the signing of highly experienced striker Nathan Delfouneso on a free transfer until the end of the season.

With 11 games remaining for Adam Murray’s men, the 32-year-old adds extra firepower to the Coasters’ striking department following a recent spell with Sky Bet League One side Accrington Stanley.

After coming through the Academy setup at Aston Villa, Nathan made his first-team bow in the UEFA Cup Second Round against Icelandic team FH Hafnarfjörður, making him the youngest player to represent Villa in a European Competition at the age of 17 years and 195 days.

31 appearances and five loan spells later, Delfouneso left Villa Park and spent time at Blackpool, Blackburn, Bury and Swindon Town before re-signing for the Seasiders.

It was his second period at Bloomfield Road that was the most notable for the former England Youth International, where he made 125 appearances and scored 24 times.

He then featured for Bolton Wanderers & Bradford City before signing for Stanley, and he now joins the Coasters for the remainder of the season.

After Delfouneso signed on the dotted line, Director of Football Chris Beech said: “With Mo Faal exceeding expectations of his loan and returning to West Bromwich Albion’s first-team squad early, along with Siya Ligendza’s recent injury, it was important from our perspective to add an attacking threat to the squad before March the 23rd.

“Like most things in life, while negotiations take place, they need financing, and at this point, I would like to thank the Chairman for recognising the need and supporting the process.

“Nathan joins us at a pivotal part of the season to support our attacking threat moving into the last quarter of the season.

“With Nathan’s football intelligence, experience and technique, he will add to our squad dynamic and support the team in the last 11 games of the season, with our imminent challenges and opportunities in front of us.”

Nathan also expressed: “I’m happy to be here, and I hope I can help the Club push on in the final 11 games and achieve the main goal of promotion at the end of the season.”

Nathan will wear the number 11 shirt during his time at Mill Farm.

Welcome to AFC Fylde, Nathan!
