The AFC Fylde Community Foundation delighted hoards of local youngsters with a free football tournament at the St George’s Festival last weekend.

Over 150 excited children, divided into three age categories, took part in the tournament on Lytham Green during the annual charity event.

All the youngsters involved also received a free goody bag and certificate for their fantastic effort.

Tom Hutton, Director of Community Development for the Foundation, was delighted with the success of the day and said: “It’s the first time we have held these competitions at the St George’s festival and it was excellent to see so many children playing football with a smile on their face. The whole football tournament went really well and we are looking forward to a repeat next year.”

Kieran Craig came to watch his son Christopher play in the football tournament and praised the organisation of the Foundation: “The whole event was very well organised and Christopher really enjoyed himself. He was also delighted to receive a certificate and goody-bag! The tournament was fantastic and I will be bringing my son back next year.”
