AFC Fylde’s player Coach John Hills has been appointed Head of Youth at Blackpool FC it has been confirmed today.
Hills joined Fylde as player coach last summer after a spell at Fleetwood Town and is sad to leave the club after an enjoyable season last time out but the 33 year old is delighted to have landed what will be a dream job at the Championship club.
“ I’ve really enjoyed my time at Fylde. It was great to be given the opportunity to come in as Player Coach by Kelham and the Chairman – the club gave me a chance to show what I could do. I loved it last season, even though we just missed out on promotion, we played some great attacking football and it was great to be part of it. The club has added some decent players in the summer and I was looking to the new season but this move is one I couldn’t turn down. We have a great bunch of lads at Fylde and I’ll be coming to watch them play whenever I can.”
Hill’s is now looking forward to his new found role at the Championship Club and has already started. “ This is a fantastic opportunity for me going to Blackpool FC. It’s my team that I have played for and supported all my life and I’m looking forward to working with Ian Holloway and some of the lads I used to play with like Murphs and Brett.”
Kelham O'Hanlon is delighted for Hills. " It's a brilliant opportunity for Hillsy and I'm sure he will go and do a very good job there." Everyone echoes Kelham's view at AFC Fylde and wish ‘Hillsy’ well in his future career at Bloomfield Road and thanks him for his efforts last season.
O'Hanlon is now looking to appoint a new 1st team player coach over the next few days in readiness for the new 11-12 season.
