Match Preview - Stamford (11/03/10)
AFC Fylde will look to bounce back from their midweek defeat this Saturday when they face Stamford, from Unibond South,in the Unibond Presidents Cup Semi Final. “ We got what we deserved on Tuesday night against Clitheroe. Looking at the positives that’s just one game in six that we have lost. “ said Kelham O’Hanlon. 

The new Fylde Boss has enjoyed a good run of late but this weekend they aim for cup glory against Stamford who a mid table side from Lincolnshire “ This weekend we need to approach the game as a one off occasion and we will make sure we are prepared correctly for a cup tie. The lads have the opportunity to get to a cup final and we have to remember that we are a good side by coming this far in the competition.”  . Stamford sit in 11th place in Unibond South and beat competition favourites FC Halifax in the quarter final, Fylde beat Bamber Bridge, Witton Albion and Warrington Town to get this far in the competition.
 
Chairman Dai Davis was looking forward to the clash “ It’s another big cup game for us which we have had many in recent seasons and we go into this looking to get to another final. We are really looking forward to it and we will have a big away following which will be great for the players.” Skelmersdale Utd or Belper play out the other semi final.
 
Fylde lost top scorer Matt Walwyn on Tuesday which is a major blow for O’Hanlon. “ Matt Walwyn’s hamstring went just a few minutes in which is very dissappointing for the lad who has been in some good form and he will be a major doubt for Saturday.” 

Midfielder Matty Kay is still on holiday and defender Phil Doughty will be available,  he missed due to work commitments and otherwise O’Hanlon has a fully fit squad for the long trip.

WHEN YOU GET THERE: For any fans travelling down to Stamford there is plenty to do in the town when you get there. Check out www.stamfordpubmap.co.uk for some great info on the vast array of local hostelries in the town all close to the ground! It's a traditional market town with an 18,000 population and is a popular destination for tourists.
