Fylde Ladies continued winning start to the FA Women’s Premier League season with a 2-0 home victory over newly-promoted Guisley Vixens.

Goals in either half from Lauren Davies and captain Danielle Young were enough to seal the win for the Coasters.

A lively start for Fylde was halted shortly after 10 minutes when Greek international Veatriki Sarri fell awkwardly before being replaced and taken to hospital. All at AFC Fylde wish her a speedy recovery.

The scoring was deservedly opened in the soon after when Lauren Davies produced a brilliant first-time strike from the edge of the Vixens box following a cute touch from Danielle Young.

Guiseley had a decent chance of their own five minutes later when good build up play saw Danica Roberts lay the ball off to Ebony Njie but her shot was well kept out by Fylde goalkeeper Alex Brooks.

Both defences were on top after the break, however it remained Fylde that looked the most likely.

The host’s pace in wide areas was causing Guisley a number of problems and Fylde were unfortunate not to add to their lead after a flurry of goalscoring opportunities.

The Coasters upped the pressure as the game wore on and finally doubled their advantage with ten minutes to play.

A whipped left-wing cross from substitute Lagan Makin found Young in the six yard and the Fylde captain improvised to knock the ball over the line and seal the points.

Next up, Fylde take a break from league action as they welcome Bury Women to Kellamergh Park on Sunday in the County Cup.
