It’s a Mad World Thanks to Foundation’s Partnership Work!

Classrooms across the Fylde Coast are being taken over by scientists thanks to AFC Fylde Community Foundation.

In partnership with Mad Science – the North West’s largest provider of fun science – the Foundation team are working with 10 local primary schools delivering an innovative new programme.

Supported by Cuadrilla and Centrica, the unique, inspirational hands-on sessions are aimed at taking the mystery out of science and making it educational and enjoyable.

The focus of the sessions is to work with Year 5 and 6 pupils, delivering an interactive science experience. This enables the young children to increase their knowledge on subjects such as energy source, as well as providing a broad spectrum of overall science-based knowledge through fun activities.

The Community Foundation have already worked in two primary schools delivering the programme and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. All the children taking part have been able to expand their knowledge of science through the exciting visuals and experiments.

AFC Fylde Community Foundation is an organisation that normally specialises in sport delivery and Director Tom Hutton is delighted at the success of the unusual collaboration with Mad Science.

He said: “It’s brilliant that we have been able to expand and broaden our range of projects by working in partnership with Mad Science.

“To be able to deliver science sessions in primary schools across the Fylde Coast is a great achievement for us and is made possible by the continued support of Cuadrilla and Centrica.

“The Foundation team have really enjoyed the new challenge and, who knows, maybe we’ll inspire a few Fylde Coast scientists in the future!”
