This Saturday’s clash against Nantwich Town in the First Round of the FA Cup is a big occasion for many reasons.

Whilst, for the hosts, it represents their first ever home tie in the First Round of the competition, for Fylde, it could see them equal their best performance in the FA Cup.

The 2017/18 season saw the Coasters take on then League One side Wigan Athletic in front of the BBC cameras, before a dramatic replay at the DW Stadium that saw them miss out late on.

For AFC Fylde Matty Kosylo, it represents a return back to a club where his career really kickstarted.

In his two years at the Weaver Stadium, Kosylo shone for The Dabbers, and won the league’s Young Player of the Year Award after netting 13 goals in his final campaign.

“To be fair, on the day of the draw I called it, but I said we’d get them at home!”, said Kosylo on the tie.

“It will be nice to go back, I had a great time there, and was able to build myself back up to where I thought I should have been.”

Following the impressive season Kosylo made the switch to Halifax Town for an undisclosed fee, where he went on to make a name for himself.

Kosylo was part of the Dabbers side that played Halifax Town in the FA Trophy semi-final, and although missed out on the trip to Wembley, clearly impressed the Shaymen.

“It’s a really family orientated club,” said Kosylo. “It will be great to see a few old faces, but we’re going there for the win obviously.”
