AFC Fylde have passed another landmark on their journey up the football pyramid after meeting the criteria for acceptance into the English Football League.

All clubs in the division are required to submit an application and we are delighted to announce that after an inspection by the Football League our application has been accepted.

Commenting on the news, Chief Executive Neil Joy said: “It’s another measure of our progress as a club that we have passed the initial stage of ensuring that we can compete in the EFL should we secure promotion.”

Chairman David Haythornthwaite said: “This is an historic day for everyone associated with the club. Ten years ago we were playing in a field in front of sixty fans in the North West Counties League Division Two.

“Now, after five promotions, our gates are averaging 1,700 and we are just one step from the promised land. We built Mill Farm with the Football League in mind, so to have this confirmed is great news for all concerned and is another massive ‘tick in the box’ for us.”
