AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor is keeping his feet firmly on the ground as the Coasters close in on a play-off place.

Four consecutive victories have seen Fylde rise up to fourth in the National League, just one point behind third-placed Sutton United.

A second or third place finish would prove advantageous to any promotion hopeful who would face just one home game in the play-offs before a grandstand Wembley final, however Challinor is taking nothing for granted.

Challinor said: “It’s easy when you’re on a decent run to get carried away but we cannot afford to do that.

“People ask if second or third is the aim now. Our only aim is to finish in the play-offs because we haven’t even secured that yet.

“We still have three very tough games to go and we have no given right to be in the play-offs. We want to win all three games and guarantee that we are in the mix first and foremost.

“We have got ourselves into a really good position but we can’t switch off yet. If someone offered me any place in the play-offs now then I would take it.

“If we can win all three games and get ourselves into a higher position then great, but we are only concentrating on tomorrow’s game at the moment.

“We have to tick another off because nothing is a given right now.”
